„Cloud computing“ requires safety

Of course, mobile devices such as phones, tablet PCs, laptops, desktops, smart use of TV will influence labour mobility but cloud computing technology is evolving rapidly too. In order to access information, you will often have to move it to the „clouds“. According to the research and advisory company „Gartner“ specialists, more than half of the companies that enter the World‘s Top One Thousand will transfer important data and information into the „clouds“. Meanwhile, about 20 percent of the companies mentioned will move their data into the „clouds“ now, so as to reduce IT budget allocations.

However, the increasing use of „cloud computing“ technology could result in financially motivated hacking and commercial espionage cases. Therefore, companies should focus on how to maximize protection of important company information. It is especially vital for Lithuania entrepreneurs since according to Lithuania‘s national electronic communications networks and information security incident investigation unit CERT-LT data, in 2011 the number of information security incidents have grown rapidly.

According to IT specialists, company executives often believe that it is enough to protect the information once, buying an antvirus program. But in reality, it is not enough. „DPA Lietuva“ CEO believes that informaiton security is an ongoing and complex operation. So  the usual anti-virus software does not guarantee strong protection. „ Today, the use of information security measures are often poorly integrated. They act like a separate program. Such protection is usally ineffective because the confidential information theft cases are complex and implemented using a variety of methods,“- points out L. TruncÄ—.
